[ he glances at the screen again and-- oh, something's playing.
Ryo is in a forest.
Or, more accurate, a rainforest. The vegetation is lush, but a little difficult to see in the darkness of night. Mosquitoes and flies buzz around obnoxiously, but he ignores the bugs in favor of the small house that he’s approaching. When he reaches it, he knocks on the door. “Professor Fikira?”
There’s no answer. He pulls the door open and steps inside, calling out Fikira’s name as he walks. It doesn’t take too long to find who he’s looking for–an older man who seems to be hammering something on a table. Blood spurts out with every hit and, when Ryo becomes closer, it becomes apparent that it’s some kind of bird.
“The chirping birds were getting on my nerves,” Fikira says. “But they’re caught now, finally. They’re quiet now.”
Ryo stares in disbelief. The man excuses himself and leaves the house, heading out into the forest. Regathering his composure, Ryo exits after him, getting into a jeep to look for the professor. It takes some time, but he eventually locates a small clearing. Ryo exits the vehicle, pausing when he notices a small container of fuel abandoned on the ground. As he examines it, Fikira, fully naked, appears.
With a pickaxe.
He strikes at Ryo, who barely dodges. The axe sinks into the side of the jeep and he pulls it out to swipe at Ryo again. Ryo manages to get enough space between them to pull out a gun and fire at the other man, which is enough to stop him. They stare at each other.
“This is,” Fikira mumbles, and his face begins to distort violently, bulging out until his mouth enlarges considerably and his teeth grow into fangs. He uses the axe to hook into the container of fuel and he pours it into his mouth.
Ryo watches, his gun still pointed at the man. “What are you doing?!”
“I can’t keep it down,” Fikira says as the gasoline pours over him. “I must die while I’m still human. He pulls out a lighter, and Ryo yells for him to stop. Fikira simply grins. “A shame, since I came to know more about you.”
He sets himself aflame. The fire quickly consumes his body, which begins to distort even further. A giant mouth forms over his chest and teeth jut out, as well as many limbs. His monstrous form screams as he burns.
date doesn’t even get to really react to what the hell it is he just saw before the screen is flickering again— and this time one of his own memories is playing (11:35-12:32). or… maybe it’s not.
he looks just as confused as he did after ryo’s memory, and maybe a little ashen. ]
They possess humans. Whoever has a stronger will gains control-- so there could have been a chance for the Professor to have overpowered the demon, if he was stronger. But in most cases it ends up like that.

[ oh.

ryo will take this moment to ignore his own memory and talk about date instead. ]
... why do you look surprised?

…
Because that’s not how Renju died.
no subject
that's interesting, actually. ]
Are you sure? What mine showed is definitely something that happened.
no subject
[ ryo-merica explain. ]
… I’m pretty sure. I would’ve more clearly remembered if my best friend was murdered and hung from a fishing hook.

[ but hm.
he folds his arms over his chest, thinking. ]
Then, what? A fake memory? One that this place created, or one that's already in your head?
no subject
[ not that. y'know.
it means anything to him lmao. ]
... I don't know. It can't be already in my head if I have a different memory of how Renju died -- that was where I died as well.
no subject
[ since he was distracted by, you know, the guy setting himself on fire and turning into a monster.
but. ]
Is there anything that might have given you a wrong memory? Drugs?
no subject
[ HE UNDERSTANDS NONE OF THIS. ] I can see why you'd be too distracted by everything to else to really take in what he was saying.
I don't do drugs. And... I can't think of anything that would do that, no.
no subject
... hm. Strange. I wonder what that means then.
no subject
[ he's a bit, y'know. disturbed by that. ]
... What did that guy turn in to? In that memory of yours. It didn't look, uh.... human.

[ being in hell has been very funny. ]
