i wanted to give you a video but i realize i did not record this specific scene. it's fine. but ryo stands up after rudely landing on the floor and starts to dust himself off, just in time for the screen to start playing something funny.
The scene begins at a giant stadium–signs advertise it as Koshien, and going by the audience packed together in the stands, it’s definitely a popular event. In the center of the stadium is a long track field, and young athletes are in the middle of a competition. The most prominent thing is that there are three runners who are greatly outclassing everyone else, running in a rather peculiar manner. One of them, specifically, is Akira, and he seems to be having some sort of conversation with another male runner.
It’s impossible to overhear what they’re talking about. Ryo is far away in the announcer’s box, watching the spectacle from far above. There’s another man sitting next to him, commentating on what’s going on, but Ryo pays him no mind. He simply watches, and he slowly moves his hand towards a tablet in front of him and presses a button on the device. After a moment, the screens of the stadium change to display what appears to be some sort of club scene, except it’s also porn. People are banging and stuff. I’m sorry.
Ryo looks back down on the field. Akira has slid to a stop, but the other teenager continues to shakily run. Other people in the room start to panic. “What the hell?” “Stop it! It’ll be a broadcast scandal!”
Akira runs towards the box and starts yelling at Ryo. “Stop it, Ryo. Abort the mission! I didn’t switch the drink. Even if we did–”
“Akira. It’s already started.”
The other runner is still doing his lap. He’s struggling though, slowly to an unsteady jog as other runners run by him. And then, suddenly, his form changes–it’s almost like he bursts out of his own skin, transforming into a large monster. The other runners begin to run away from him in terror, and the teenager charges at them as he screams and cries in despair. He runs them over, throws them violently using his tusks, and eating anyone who gets into his path.
Ryo watches from his seat. Akira continues to try to get his attention, yelling, “He’s just trying to run away. Ryo, get him out of here like we planned. Open the gate!”
[ well, yes, that is what just happened. he wants to deny this, but it is kind of difficult to because that is most certainly what they just watched occur. hmmm. ]
[i mean. listen. she's not that disturbed by this memory. she's not all that surprised, either, because akira mentioned a few things to her already, and this isn't as bad as she'd assumed. at least the death toll is not that high by locked tomb standards even though, even in necromancy world this is absolutely wild.]
[ this demon turns out to be a bitch later. ryo doesn't know this, but if he did, he would definitely go 'i told you so' ]
In general, it was only a matter of time. They were growing more and more active on their own, so we were trying to control when it happened. Governments only react when it's extreme.
[she's reassessing her views of ryo a little. akira did make a comment that it would be dangerous for ryo to return to life, but maybe this is what was meant.]
He is kind. Which is not a poor quality, or at least, it isn't in him. [akira has made like ten comments to her about mating or liking her skin and she still likes him so she's a little impressed.] But it is not always a helpful quality.
he knew that harrow and gideon had a tumultuous relationship, given how they are often fighting but at the same time gideon always seems like she's ready to cut someone if they try to pull something on the other girl. he didn't know that it was quite at this level though.
she really is just a scared girl. a very rude one, but still. ]
[ that fight was. something. ryo is used to the ones where you either shoot someone a lot or you turn into a giant monster to fight other giant monsters and bite their head off. so this one was new. ]
