Indeed. There was a lot we could have done differently, but admittedly, we were just outsmarted. They depended on us becoming distracted by the dramatics. That is quite obviously the reason to choose Tuuri.
Right... someone who would argue to vote for her, and that everyone would have sympathy for.
At the very least, the chances of killing Kon being an overall accident is pretty low, so we can rule that out. You'd have to bend pretty far to make a convincing argument for 'I got someone else to kill a person for me but I didn't mean to'.
