[He stops and stands there with hesitation before finally turning back.

He said he'd be friends!!

So he sits in the chair beside Ryo.]

What are your thoughts on what happened?

[ he has an idea, but he would like for akira to talk about it. ]

[tearduct]

[He crosses his arms over his stomach and slouches far enough down in the chair to rest his head on the back of it.

His eyes shift around the ceiling thoughtfully for a long time.]

It feels like we’re back home.

That's because no matter where you go, their hearts are still the same.

[ it's said flatly, and his gaze is on akira when he says it to catch his expression. ]

A lot of the people who were angry at Bucky at the end were the same ones who expressed no real concern about Hunter dying, other than what it meant. Hypocrisy.

[tearduct]

[His mouth sets and his brows pinch. He turns his eyes away from Ryo even if he doesn’t move his head.

Ryo technically isn’t wrong is the problem!!]

We’re in hell. Don’t the worst people go there? The ones God can’t forgive.

Mm. That's how it's supposed to go, yes.

[ although it's a little difficult to see why people like hunter were sent here, but at the end of the day, they don't know these people well enough or what they did before they died. ]

Everyone has their own stories. And those stories may motivate them to do what Bucky did.

[tearduct]

[He thinks about what Bucky said, falling quite for a long time. The fact people are supposedly here for whatever terrible crimes, but had the nerve to vilify Bucky for pursuing a chance at fixing things back home.

Does a terrible deed justify a good one? He’s thinking about it…]

Why did you not cooperate with everyone, Ryo?

I cooperated with them.

[ he did the hand check, and at least let them look at his shoes. but he thought the shoe smelling was idiotic, there was no way he was going to let anyone look at his gun, and if anyone tried to touch him he would have gone feral.

but he did cooperate for some things. ]

I just also have some boundaries I didn't want crossed.

[tearduct]

There sure were a lot of people looking for Bucky who suddenly had a lot of boundaries even though they probably got here by crossing boundaries.

[It’s not shade to Ryo specifically. There were a lot of people willing to look for someone else suspicious, but had something to hide.]

You weren’t the only one.

[ ryo won't even attempt to make an excuse for himself because he is a shady asshole, and at this point akira is aware of this fact.

and, in the end, he never cared about finding bucky. this has just been fun to watch. but he keeps that thought to himself, since it'll probably make akira mad at him. ]

It does give us a better idea about the people here. This is likely to happen again, so next time we can go in somewhat prepared.

[He would be mad, yeah, but at this point, he somehow continues to expect Ryo to be a shitty person.

He’s quiet again for a long time, not moving. Just looking at the ceiling.]

Something is off about the elf guy’s left foot. He wouldn’t let me touch it. The green-haired girl didn’t want me to touch her either. The guy I fought with tried to kick me. Four wouldn’t let me see or touch her actual feet.

[Guess what? You can actually tell some things about people by their feet.]

he knows that most people think of akira as simply an idiot, but at the end of the day, there is genuinely no person that ryo puts his faith in more. at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter how you get something done as long as you get something out of it. ]

Then we can keep an eye on them. Your roommate did less checks than me, but honestly it would have been stranger for him to participate. Harrowhark also did not want to be touched, but she let you approach her.

[He finally turns his head on the back of the chair so he fan look over at Ryo.]

He avoided a good bit of them, yeah. He has some kind of thing he didn’t like me touching. But he looked scared when I had it before he got angry. I think it’s broken.

Harrowhark said she is like… a miko, I think. Some kind of priestess.

Is Gideon like her bodyguard, or something? She was really surprised for some reason when I said you weren't with me on Thursday night.

[ it was weird, since ryo had made no indication that akira was always with him and he doubts akira did either. but seeing how much gideon hovered around the other girl... ]

[tearduct]

[He kind of makes a peculiar face at the surprise.]

I don’t know. Gideon talks about her like she’s a pain. They’re from, uh… like different houses on different planets? It sounds kind of like our solar system, but not exactly. The First and the Ninth or something.

There’s an emperor? Gideon hates the guy, but said Harrowhark likes him because he’s God. And I guess because she’s a priestess.

Either way, from how they act towards each other, they're close. No matter how much they complain. It would probably be best to keep an eye on anyone who already knew each other prior, since they're more likely to work with each other. Perhaps not let them check each other.

[Ryo, this means they fall under that same suspicion. 😑 He does not say this only because he knows Ryo already understands that.]

Do you think what Bucky said was true? About the twenty people.

It's just as likely to be true as it is to be fake. I'd prefer to get a second confirmation though before just believing him.

[ he doesn't think bucky is lying, but there is always the chance that the information he got was just wrong. ]

[tearduct]

[Well, for once, he doesn’t disagree with Ryo’s objectives. He goes back to looking at the ceiling.]

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was true. I didn’t think Satan was going to let all of us have a chance anyway. There are too many of us even if he would cheat.

[preordain]

So, are you prepared to go through that again?

[ the trial. ]

[tearduct]

[Inwardly gritting his teeth honestly.]

I don't really have a choice.

[Does he like it? No. Will he go through with it because there are no other options outside of double death? Yes.]

That's true.

[ there's a pause, and he turns to face him even though akira isn't looking at him. ]

Are you making friends?

[tearduct]

He looks at Ryo over the arm of the chair now.]

I don’t know…?

[Is making friends a bad thing now considering what is happening? Maybe he should say no.]

I just want to know if you're getting along with anyone.

[ he's just asking a question geez ]
